Above is the axometric drawing i chose to develop in sketchUP. Firstly, in sketchUP, i crudely combined both the models, basically laying them on top of each other. [next two images].
i then began to remould both monuments, developing the structure now as a whole. i also thought about the question where we need to provide an interesting way for the students to arrive + have come up with the idea that the large yellow rectangle is now a 'track' which will loop a mountain. attached to the track will be 'cars' for transportation. the cut up rectangle which runs along one side of the yellow rectangle, now also forms a tunnel, which will run through the mountain. the rest of the monument will be moulded within a plateau.
There are three areas for meetings in this initial design. the large space on the left, the red space + the white space to the front of the red one.
this image shows where the 'cars' will stop + people will enter the monument.
the above + below images show the monument from the rear + the waiting zone for the elevator. in the image below there is an upright rectangle made up of three parts. in the initial singular monuments this was a fixed rectangle but once again thinking about how people may interact with the monument, i want to propose that the central grey rectangle will move up + down between the floors.
this image shows the monument in the distance from the 'train station'. although once in the terrain, the monument will not be seen from the station, i wanted to include this image because i thought it captures + frames the monument well; it is almost as if you get the to see the whole before seeing each part upon arrival.
with this skin of my design now done, i want to focus on making the 'internal' spaces a little more defined + habitable, design of the 'cars', how people move between the floors where the elevator does not travel too + generally keep redefining the monument overall.
